"These Things I Remember" is a dance with five scenes beginning with the Spanish Inquisition of 1492, then Morocco in the 1700s, Turkey in the 1800s, Salonica in 1943 and Today. After the Sephardic expulsion in 1492, Jews made their way to new communities in Morocco. In the second scene, a Sephardic woman purifies her home with many magical preparations, painting her doorway to keep away the evil eye, sprinkling water for cleansing and wafting special herbs in the air.
