"Hagar's Midrash, A Story," tells many stories scrolled into one, beginning with the ancient story of Hagar, the Egyptian who became the handmaiden to Abraham's wife Sarah, both women bearing him sons. Because of family friction, Hagar and her son Ishamael were banished to the desert which is seen in the dance as a metaphor for how we can be lost today in all the violent news stories and tragedies of terrorism. Hagar steps forward in time and offers new hope. Photo by Warwick Green |
